Thank you!

A HUGE thank-you once again to all of the women who attended our Founder’s Day event at Volare last Tuesday. Sisters and guests had a great time enjoying cocktails and appetizers while supporting The Center for Women and Families. Many of us also had the opportunity to meet Jane Short, our Province Alumnae Chair, who drove up from Nashville for the event.
Our special guest speaker for the evening was Courtney DiShebear, a legal advocate and community educator from the Center for Women and Families. Courtney provided the group with important facts and statistics about domestic abuse. One in four women will be a victim of at least one type of abuse in her lifetime – this means each one of us has had an experience with domestic and/or sexual abuse, whether through a personal experience or through someone you know. We also learned about the wide array of services that the Center offers to victims of abuse. I am proud to announce that our chapter raised $250 for the Center for Women and Families – way to go ladies!

Happy Founder's Day!!!

Alpha Chi Omega

"Together let us seek the heights."

Alpha Chi Omega was originally founded as a musical sorority at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana on October 15, 1885. It was here that our founding sisters: Anna Allen, Olive Burnett, Bertha Deniston, Amy DuBois, Nellie Gamble, Bessie Grooms and Estelle Leonard, began Alpha Chi Omega. Our founders chose the name Alpha Chi Omega to show that we would forever be the first and last musical sorority. Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and Omega is the last, signifying the meaning behind the name. A few years after our founding, the requirement to be part of the school of music was dropped, but an appreciation of the fine arts has continued as part of our heritage.

Wishing all of my sisters a truly wonderful Founder’s Day!
